What Was Installed. What Is Transmitted.
The Standard is not a methodology. It is a formation — a set of principles installed through twenty years of direct mentorship between Thomas Matthew Roman and Lee Iacocca.
The Origin
The Iacocca Standard was not written down. It was transmitted. Over two decades of direct relationship, Iacocca communicated a way of thinking about leadership, accountability, and institutional permanence that cannot be reduced to a framework or a checklist.
Thomas Roman was one of the few people who received that transmission directly. The Roman Ventures holding company, and every operating company within it, exists to carry that standard forward.

The Principles
Real leadership goes beneath rather than rises above. The leader’s job is to build the foundation, not to occupy the summit. Organizations that outlast their founders are built by leaders who understood this.
Systems outlast individuals. The measure of a leader is not what they accomplish while present, but what continues after they are gone. Every company in the Roman Ventures architecture was built with this in mind.
Excellence is non-negotiable. Not excellence as a performance. Excellence as a standard — a floor below which no work, no communication, and no relationship is permitted to fall.
The Transmission
The Standard is transmitted through Roman University, through the books and speaking of Thomas Roman, and through the operating methodology of Roman Media Group. It is not available as a download. It is available through formation.
For those who want to engage with the Standard directly, the starting point is The Bench: The Iacocca Standard, available through ThomasRoman.com.
